How to Make a Cross Necklace Out of Nails

Instructions

    • 1

Get two nails and some bare copper wire, such as the wire linked to in Resources below. Use colored magnet wire if you prefer.

    • 2

Hold two nails together in a cross shape. Wrap a piece of wire diagonally across the wires, then under the top one, then diagonally across the other way and under the bottom one. Finally, cut the wire and twist the ends together.

    • 3

Wrap another piece of wire several times around the head of one of the nails, then make a loop and twist the ends together.

    • 4

Consider soldering the wire to strengthen it. Hold the soldering iron to the nails and wire in the back of the cross at the point where they join. Touch the solder to the hot nails and wire. Once the solder smokes and settles around the join, remove the soldering iron. Repeat at the top of the cross to reinforce the loop.

Add any decorative wire wrappings you want to put on the necklace. You can twist wire around both the sides and bottom of the cross for decorative effect if you wish.

    • 6

Cut a length of cord through the necklace. String it through the wire loop and tie it to itself.
