How to Make a Crochet Table Mat
Table mats or placemats are used to protect your dining room table and as a decoration. Crocheted table mats can be made from different types of yarn, giving various textures and thicknesses. Purchase or gather your supplies. You will need any medium worsted-weight yarn, four 7-oz. skeins and a size M crochet hook.
This will make 6 table mats that are each 15 inches wide by 12 inches long. -

Chain 27, using two yarn strands at a time.

Work the first row. Use the single crochet stitch, starting in the second chain from the hook. You should have 26 single crochet stitches.

Turn your work to the other side. Chain 2 and single crochet in each stitch across.

Repeat the last row until your work measures 15 inches.

Pull the loop around the hook wider. Remove the hook and cut the yarn. Pull the yarn end through the loop. Weave in the yarn piece into the last row of crocheting. Repeat the same procedures for the next five table mats.
