How to Put on Football Equipment
In a rough contact sport like football, having the proper pads and equipment is important in preventing injury. However, to the new or young player, the piles of equipment can be intimidating. It is easy to put on football equipment once you get the hang of it. Follow these simple steps through all your equipment. Make sure everything fits comfortably and snugly for the best protection, and check with your coach if you have any specific questions.

Put on your athletic supporter and cup. Fit hip and tailbone pads into your girdle, over the cup.

Fit both the knee pads and thigh pads into your uniform pants, which slide over the girdle.

Put on your socks and cleats before putting on your upper body padding. It will be easier to put them on before the rest of the football equipment is on.

Put on rib pads, shock pads and shoulder pads. These can all be worn over an undershirt if you feel more comfortable with one on. This equipment needs to be secured well.

Put on the neck roll, followed by your jersey and any optional arm padding that you have chosen to wear.

Put on the last two pieces of equipment: your helmet and mouth guard. Make sure to have the mouth guard properly fitted by a professional for the best protection.
