Roll a Bowling Ball

Bowling is a popular sport among professionals and families alike. If you want to go bowling, you'll need to learn how to properly roll the ball down the lane.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Choose the right size ball. Most men typically go with bowling balls that weigh between 14 and 16 pounds; many women choose to go with a lighter ball. Make sure you don't have a ball that is too heavy for you.

  2. Step 2

There are seven arrows on the lane that help you aim. Keep your body straight and put your front foot just behind the arrow you'd like to roll down.

  3. Step 3

Hold the ball close to your body at waist level. Make sure your thumb, second and third fingers are in the correct holes on the ball, and use your opposite hand to support the ball and keep it close to your body.

  4. Step 4

Step up to the line, swinging the ball behind you.

  5. Step 5

Stoop down as you get close to the line and bring your arm forward. When the ball meets the ground, release it and follow through with your arm.
