How to Give a Dog a Vaccine Shot
Don't want to pay for the vet to vaccinate your dog? Give him the vaccinations yourself. You can do it in the comfort of your home, which is more relaxing for both you and your pet. This article deals with subcutaneous (under the skin) vaccinations. Although some vaccinations need to be given intramuscularly (directly into the muscle), most are subcutaneous.
Instructions

1
Insert the syringe into the vial and pull the liquid into it.
-
2
Push any excess air out of the syringe and back into the vial.
-
-
3
Lightly pinch a small bit of skin just above your dog's shoulder. This is the least sensitive area you can inject.
-
4
Insert the needle into the pinched area. It does not need to reach deep. The vaccine will be injected right beneath the surface of the skin.
-
5
Pull back slightly on the plunger of the syringe to make sure that the needle is not in a blood vessel. If it is, blood will enter the syringe, and you will have to find another spot on the shoulder to inject.
-
6
Push on the plunger to inject the vaccine. Remove the needle.

Tips & Warnings
You may wish to enlist someone to help hold the dog still while you are administering the vaccine.
Never reuse a needle/syringe. Use a separate one for each vaccine and each dog.
