How to Make a Grapefruit Cleanser

Grapefruit is a powerful skin care ingredient full of vitamins A and C. These vitamins are powerful antioxidants that prevent aging and fight free radicals from the environment. Free radicals damage the skin and cause premature aging. Not only is it important to consume foods rich in antioxidants, but it is important to use them as topical treatments for the skin as well.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Grapefruit peel
  • Olive oil
  • Grapefruit juice
  • Borax powder
  1. Step 1

    Take one large grapefruit and peel. Set aside on a paper towel.

  2. Step 2

    Gather 1/2 cup of olive oil, 2 tbsp. of grapefruit juice and 1/2 tsp. of borax powder. Combine ingredients in a heat-safe bowl.

  3. Step 3

    Add the grapefruit peel to the mixture and stir. Heat in the microwave for 2 minutes, taking care not to overheat the bowl.

  4. Step 4

    Allow to cool completely. Strain into a clean container to remove all of the grapefruit peels.

  5. Step 5

    Apply to skin in circular motions twice a day in place of your normal cleanser. Store in a cool, dry place.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use any citrus fruit in this recipe.
  • Avoid contact with the eyes.
