Napkin holders can be all the same, or a range of imaginative and creative designs, enhanced with embellishments.

1
Cut card stock paper into strips 2- by 5 1/2-inches. Cut fabric into strips 3- by 6-inches.
-
2
Apply a line of hot glue down the center of a strip of card stock. Press a fabric strip, right side up, on top of the card stock strip and glue so that 1/2-inch of fabric overlaps along the strip of card stock, and matched evenly to the ends.

3
Flip the card stock strip over so that the wrong side is up. Apply hot glue along one edge of the strip lengthwise and press the overlapping 1/2-inch of fabric on top of the glue and press down to secure all along the edge. Do the same with the other side of the card stock strip.

4
Flip the card stock strip over, ride side up. Apply embellishments with a hot glue gun to decorate (see illustrations). For example, apply a thin strip of hot glue down the center from one end to the other. Press on a contrasting ribbon, and a narrower strip of contrasting rick rack ribbon on top of that, secured with hot glue. Attach baby-themed fabric images, pastel plastic buttons or other three-dimensional decoration.
-
5
Close the ends of the napkin holder with hot glue, overlapping 1/2-inch of one end over the other end. Let dry.
