Things You'll Need

• Small pumpkins
• Marker
• Rolled sugar cookie recipe (ingredients and utensils)
• Autumn-themed cookie cutters
• Red, orange, yellow and brown sprinkles
• White frosting
• Food coloring
• Cellophane
• Pumpkin, squash and corn seed packets
• Autumn-hued ribbon or raffia
• Thank-you notes and envelopes
• Fine-tipped marker or calligraphy pen
• Muslin or lace
• Unscented potpourri
• Pumpkin-scented oil

Instructions

1. Purchase a pumpkin for each guest. Personalize each pumpkin by writing each guest's name on one with a fine-tip marker or calligraphy pen. Write a short greeting on the pumpkin if desired.

2. Make the dough for rolled sugar cookies and use autumn-themed cookie cutters to create a festive Thanksgiving treat. For example, you might include autumn leaves, pumpkins or pilgrim shapes. Bake cookies according to your recipe instructions, then decorate them with brown, orange, yellow and red sprinkles and fall-hued frosting. Wrap several cookies in cellophane for each guest and place a cookie package on each plate.

3. Purchase pumpkin, squash and corn seed packets. Stack one of each type of seed packet and tie them together with an autumn-hued ribbon or raffia bow.

4. Purchase a set of decorative thank-you notes and draft a special sentiment to each guest about why you are thankful you have that person in your life. Use a calligraphy marker or fine-tipped pen. Seal the notes in envelopes, write each person's name on the front of the appropriate envelope and place the sealed envelopes on the corresponding guest plates.

5. Cut out an 8- by 10-inch square of muslin or lace fabric and place 1 cup of unscented potpourri in the center of each fabric square. Add three drops of pumpkin-scented oil on top of the potpourri. Grasp all four corners of the fabric square and gather them together so they touch. Tie an autumn-colored ribbon or raffia bow around the part of the sachet where the potpourri forms a natural ball to secure the sachet.
