How to Make Round Gift Tags
If you like to create pretty and unusual things from paper, one enjoyable thing to focus on is making your wrapped gifts look as creative and distinctive as possible. Once you have selected an attractive gift wrap and wrapped the special gift up, it's time to take an extra step or two and make a neat round tag to adorn your gift. Spend an hour or so making up a bunch of round gift tags so that you have a stash ready for every gift giving occasion. There are many different decorative punches widely available, which makes these gift tags even easier to create.

- Graphics program
- Color printer
- Scalloped punch
- Card stock
- Photo mounts
- Gel pen

Open your graphics program and open a background raster layer. A raster layer is the foundation for any project in a graphics program.

Size your background raster layer to a 8.5-inch width and 11-inch height.

Browse through the background patterns available in your graphics program by opening up the materials palette. When you find a pattern and color that you like, select it by clicking on it so that you can use it on your background raster layer.

Select the fill tool. Once this tool is active, simply click on the background raster layer and your selected pattern should automatically fill in your raster layer completely.

Name your file and save it on the hard drive of your computer.

Print out your saved background pattern onto card stock paper. Print as many sheets as you will need to make the round gift tags.

Purchase a decorative punch (see Resources) if you do not have one. There are punches with decorative edges so that you do not have to add any special edge to your shape once you have punched it out from the card stock. For best gift tag results, find a round or oval punch shape that is at least two inches wide and two inches tall.

Use the decorative punch to punch out the round gift tags from the patterned card stock.

Place a photo mount onto the back of the round gift tag. Peel the backing off of the photo mount and affix the round gift tag to a wrapped gift.

Write the name of the gift recipient on the tag and sign your name with the gel pen.
