Nero is already popular for burning CDs. Nero's DVD burning capabilities work just as well. Files in the VCD 1 format can be burnt to a DVD and played in most DVD players. You may create a DVD to make your own home movies, backup existing movies, or make a compilation of various videos. The process is painless. Within a few minutes, you can be on your way to burning your own DVD in the VCD 1 format with Nero.

From Quick Guide: Nero Software Basics
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Collect all your video files into one location. This will make browsing for them easier in later steps. These files should be the finished product. Nero isn't a video editing program.

  2. Step 2

Open Nero Burning ROM. Go to "Start -- All Programs -- Nero -- Nero Burning ROM."

  3. Step 3

Choose "DVD" from the drop-down menu in the top left corner.

  4. Step 4

Select "DVD Video" from the list to the left.

  5. Step 5

Select the "Label" tab and enter a name for your VCD DVD in the "ISO 9660" text box. Click "New" to continue.

  6. Step 6

Double click the "Video_TS" folder. Browse to your video files.

  7. Step 7

Select all your video files. If that is all that's in the folder, press "Ctrl" + "A" to select all. Drag and drop the selected files to the left side of the screen. This will place them in the folder selected in Step 6.

  8. Step 8

Click the burn icon. This is a CD with a flame on it near the top of the screen.
Be sure only the "Write" checkbox is selected on the "Burn" tab. Select your write speed from the "Write Speed" drop down box.
Press "Burn" to burn your DVD.

Tips & Warnings
  • Test your video files before you burn them to DVD. This will save you time in case a file is corrupt or incorrect. Burn at slower speeds for best quality.
  • If your version of Nero doesn't support DVD burning, you will need to purchase a new version or download a trial version. See the Resources section to download trial versions. Burning to CD instead will cause the video to not play correctly in some players. Close all other programs while the burn is in progress to prevent errors.
