How to Install a Belkin N1 Wireless Router
The Belkin N1 Wireless Router allows multiple users to share a common Internet connection as well share printers and permit file sharing between computers. It offers N1 wireless access as well being backwards compatible with b and g wireless standards, which allows it to work with virtually every wireless computer. It gives users the ability to stream HD video, listen to digital music and enable VoIP phone service. It is compatible with computers of all platforms, and works with Belkin wireless cards as well as most other wireless adapters, including Apple Airport cards.
Things You'll Need
- ISP Account (with cable or DSL modem)
- Ethernet RJ-45 cables
- Computer with Ethernet or wireless capabilities
Instructions

1
Connect the Belkin router to your cable or DSL modem. If you're replacing an older router, simply connect the new router in place of the old one. If you're connecting a new router, connect the Ethernet cable between the modem and the WAN port on the router. The other four ports on the router are used to connect to the other network nodes.

Click on the "Submit" button to access the configuration page, as the default settings of the router have a blank password field. The configuration page is where you customize the settings of your router and your wireless network. This is where you specify your wireless network name, your security settings and the password for the router itself.
-
5
Change the settings, as described in Step 4, on the router, which can be accessed via links on the configuration page. You'll want to change the wireless network name to something that makes sense for your particular situation, and change the secure password, for both the router and wireless network.
-
6
Connect wirelessly to the new network. If you configured the network using a wireless computer, you will have to connect to the newly named network and enter the new network password.

Tips & Warnings
If you have to reset your router to its original factory settings, simply use a pencil or pen to hold in the reset button (located on the back of the router) for 30 seconds. Virtually every computer has built-in software that will recognize the Belkin N1 router, so using the enclosed CD to install the software is not necessary.
A lost password (either a network or router password) will require you to reset the router to its original settings, as well as reconfigure it.
