A paper bag card is a fun and funky way to express a birthday wish or a get well message. The basic idea is to take a plain-old paper bag---you know the kind you brought to school when you were 10---and turn it into a piece of art using every day items around the house. This is also a great arts and crafts projects for students.

  • Paper bag
  • Glue dots
  • String
  • Pens

Instructions

      Flatten the paper bag and then fold it longways so that the "sack" portion is on the inside of the card. Press it into place.

      Design the front. Use the glue dots to place some card stock on the front of the card. Add some ribbon or other designs to enhance the look.

      Inside of a bag card

      Make the inside next. Glue down some card stock on both inside pages. Have fun with your designs.

      Make your pocket display next. Cut some cardstock and punch a hole in it toward the edge. Make sure the cardstock fits inside the opening of the bag. Slide some string or ribbon through the hole (try putting an eyelet around it) and tie it. Take the other end of the string and place it inside the opening in the front of card. Use ribbon tape to put it in place. This will allow you to slide the cardstock in and out of the card. Design it to specs. One idea is to add a photo.

      Create an interior design. Use stamps, acid-free markers or whatever you want to personalize a greeting.
