Instructions

    • 1

Let fresh dry air circulate through the crawl space. Mold thrives in still, dark, damp areas. While allowing the crawl space to air out, locate and repair any sources of moisture in the crawl space. Otherwise you are just wasting your time removing the existing mold.

    • 2

Start a fan to keep the air circulating while you spray the existing mold with pure white vinegar. Vinegar will kill the mold spores, and keep them from spreading. Let the vinegar sit overnight on the affected areas, with the fan running to keep the area cool and dry.

    • 3

Use a handheld vaccum and a dry toothbrush to remove and lift away the mold spores that you have killed.

    • 4

If you have removed the mold, and any sources of moisture, but the mold returns repeat the process and install a permanent fan or dehumidifier to lower the moisture level in the crawl space. If possible install a vent to allow air to circulate and let light in.
