Balloons, streamers, poppers, confetti and party hats are must-haves for any child's party. You can turn decorating the party hats into an activity. Make your child's party special by giving out creative cone-shaped party hats.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 11-by-18-inch lightweight card-stock paper (themed or, if you want to decorate the hats, solid)
  • Pencil
  • Compass
  • Scissors
  • Glue or stapler
  • Hole puncher
  • Elastic
  • Embellishments (optional)
  1. Step 1

Position the paper horizontally. Using a compass, draw a half circle on the page. The size of the half circle will depend on how large you want the party hat to be.

  2. Step 2

Cut the shape out of the paper. Take the two corners of the paper and bring them together to form a cone shape. Secure the corners together using glue or staples.

  3. Step 3

Punch two holes on either side of the cone at about ¾ inch from the end toward the opening.

  4. Step 4

Put the elastic through the holes. Tie the two ends of the elastic together. Make sure the elastic is long enough so that the child can rest it on her chin.

  5. Step 5

Add embellishments to the party hats with glue. This can even be a fun arts-and-crafts exercise for the kids to be creative and design their own party hats.
