1
Determine what kind of a surface you have. If it is a porous stone like limestone or certain granites, you will need to make sure it is sealed, or it will absorb oils and dirt very quickly. Otherwise, it will not need to be sealed.
-
2
Wipe down the shower after every use with a microfiber rag. Use a diluted spray cleaner that has been designed for use with natural stone. Spray it down first, then wipe. This will prevent a buildup of soap scum.

3
Keep any acidic cleaners, like simple white vinegar, toilet bowl cleaners and even glass cleaner away from the stone. These can etch the stone's surface. If you have a glass door or mirror in the shower, use rubbing alcohol as it won't hurt the stone.
-
4
Prevent mildew by keeping the stone dry as much as feasible. If mildew should appear in the corners, do not use common mildew stain removers such as Tilex. Use a formula that is specific for use with natural stone, such as MB-9 by The Stone Doctor.
-
5
Remove any soap scum that does build up with a soap scum remover like MB-3 Soap Film Remover. It is formulated to be safe on your stone shower walls and won't dull the surface over time.
