Instructions

    • 1

Measure the dimensions of the section of the room you wish to divide. Stained glass windows come in all shapes and sizes, so the overall length of each stained glass partition is the primary dimension you will need, along with the height at which you plan to hang the windows. You will need two equal lengths of chain for each window.

Find stained glass windows at your local decorative glass and mirror supply store or have special windows made to order from a local stained glass artist. You can also find antique stained glass windows at your local antique store or from antique dealers online. Antique stained glass still has translucent colors that are as vibrant today as they were hundreds of years ago when they were made. Any stained glass window is a work of art, but the antique stained glass windows bring history and a special connection to the past into your home.

Attach the screw eyes to the wood frame of the stained glass window, one close to each top edge. If your window is more than three feet long, you may want to add a third hook in the center to help manage the weight. Measure the distance between the hooks on each window.

    • 4

Locate the joist in your ceiling where you plan to hang your stained glass room divider. Drill pilot holes to make installing your ceiling hooks easier. Place the ceiling hooks in line with the hooks on the frame of your stained glass windows. Remember to leave at least a few inches between each window.

Attach the chain links to the window hooks and hang them from the ceiling hooks.

Tips & Warnings

  • Hang your stained glass windows at varying heights to create a more interesting room divider.

  • Stained glass windows are heavy; make sure to use the right size chain for your window.
