Start to Finish: 15 minutesServings: 2Difficulty: BeginnerMargaritas, with their citrus flavor and sweet-sour taste are refreshing anytime of the year but especially during the hot, humid summer months. Peach margaritas are a lighter, fruitier variation of the classic cocktail. Using frozen peaches, you can make a frosty blended cocktail anytime of the year. This recipe, inspired by Drinks Mixer and Saveur magazine's Mango-Ginger Margarita, uses frozen peaches, peach liqueur and peach juice to create an aromatically scented peach margarita.

  • 4 ounces tequila
  • 1 ounce peach schnapps
  • 1 ounce orange liquor, such as triple sec or Cointreau
  • Juice from four whole limes, about 4 ounces
  • 4 to 8 ounces peach nectar
  • 1/2 cup frozen peach slices (blended margarita only)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • Mint leaves

Blended Peach Margarita

Blend the lime juice, sugar, 4 ounces of peach nectar, frozen peach slices and 2 tablespoons of water until the mixture is rough and choppy.Add the alcohol and blend until the drink is smooth and creamy. Pulse blend to ensure that there are no large chunks, adding water as needed to thin the mixture if it is too thick.Pour the margarita into rocks glasses and garnish each glass with a straw and mint leaves. Serve the drinks immediately.

Peach Margarita on the Rocks

Add the lime juice, sugar, 8 ounces of peach nectar, 2 tablespoons of water and the alcohol to a cocktail shaker.Fill the shaker halfway with ice, cap it and shake vigorously. Stop when the outside of the shaker develops condensation and is very cold to the touch.Fill two rocks glasses halfway with ice, and pour the cocktail into the glasses. Use a mesh strainer to keep extra ice from entering the glasses. Garnish with mint leaves and serve immediately.

  • Peach nectar is thicker than peach juice and provides more fruit flavor with less sugar. However, peach juice can also be used if the nectar is not available.Frozen peach slices reduce the amount of ice needed for a blended peach margarita. This leads to less dilution and a stronger tasting cocktail.
