How to Make Peach Margaritas

If you're looking for an interesting twist on an old favorite, try a peach margarita. They're just as easy to make as a typical frozen margarita, but they have a richer, fruitier flavor that many people prefer. Peach margaritas also have less acid and alcohol, which makes them a better choice than a regular margarita if you have a sensitive stomach. The best peach margaritas are made with fresh, fully ripe peaches, but frozen peaches also work well.

Things You'll Need

• 1 large fresh peach (or 1 cup frozen peaches)
• 1 1/2 oz. tequila
• 1/2 oz. triple sec (or 1/4 oz. triple sec and 1/4 oz. peach schnapps)
• 1/2 oz. lime juice
• 1/2 cup ice
• Sugar or coarse salt
• Blender

Instructions

1. Remove the seed from the peach and cut it into chunks. The peach does not need to be peeled, but you can do so if you prefer. If you are using frozen peaches, simply cut them into smaller chunks.

2. Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. If you don't have a blender, mash the peach chunks with a potato masher, substitute 1/4 cup water for the ice and freeze the mixture rather than blending it. Stir every 10 minutes until the mixture is thick and slushy.

3. Prepare the glass by wetting the rim with lime juice and dipping it in coarse salt or sugar.

4. Pour the peach margarita into the prepared glass and serve immediately.

Tips & Warnings

• Don't be tempted to use canned peaches in this recipe--the drink will be mushy and far too sweet. If peach isn't very ripe, you can add half a teaspoon of sugar before blending. Nectarines can be substituted for peaches. The difference in taste shouldn't be noticeable.

• As with any mixed drink, the taste of alcohol is masked by the other ingredients. A single peach margarita contains as much alcohol as two bottles of beer. Be careful not to overindulge and never drink and drive.
