How To Make a Toilet Paper Rose

Kids love to make pretty, crafty things out of everyday objects in the home, and there's not many household items that are more "everyday" than toilet paper. Learning how to fold a simple toilet paper rose teaches fine motor skills to the little ones, and bigger kids will impress their friends with the finished product.
Moms and dads may also want to whip up a quick toilet paper rose to garnish a tray covered with breakfast-in-bed items or another special meal.

Things You'll Need

  • Toilet paper
  • Bobby pins (the closed or clip kind, not the open kind)
  • Tape (optional)

Instructions

    • 1

Fold the toilet paper. Tear off no more than four squares of toilet paper, and stack them neatly on top of each other. Fold the four sheets together into small accordion folds.

    • 2

Use the bobby pin for a stem. Fold the accordion-folded sheets in half lengthwise to determine the center. Insert the center of the folded sheets into the bobby pin all the way to the end, making a "T".

    • 3

Fluff the rose. Pull the folds out slightly on each side of the bobby pin so they look fan-like. One sheet at a time, one side at a time, carefully separate all the layers of toilet paper, and pull up to the center of the "flower." If you want, you can use small pieces of tape to attach the two sides of the rose together.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can also use tissues and tissue wrapping paper to make bigger, more colorful roses.
