For those who love to cook and design their own recipes, being published in a cookbook can be a dream come true. And it's not really that hard. Publishing your ideas is as easy as coming up with good recipes and then knowing where to go from there. Make sure that your recipe includes all of the outlined necessary criteria, and then search out ways to get it printed and published either locally or nationally.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

    Publish Your Recipes

  1. Step 1

Come up with the recipes that you want to publish. Make sure that they are all original and not copied from someone else's cookbook. Make sure that all the instructions are easy to understand and that the reader can picture what you're trying to say.

  2. Step 2

List the ingredients needed for each recipe in order of use. Also make sure to include whether the ingredients should be prepared a certain way like chopped or diced.

  3. Step 3

Include accurate package sizes for canned and boxed ingredients, and include what type of dish the recipe should be cooked in, especially when baking.

  4. Step 4

Make sure that you test your recipes to ensure that they come out as planned every time.

  5. Step 5

Contact a company that specializes in fund-raising cookbooks, like Heritage Cookbooks, to publish your own cookbook; or self-publish your cookbook with companies like Morris Press Cookbooks and Lulu books.

  6. Step 6

Contact an organization that often publishes cookbooks--like your local Junior League or church, for example--to see if some of your recipes can be included in the cookbook.

Tips & Warnings
  • Contact your favorite food blogs. They often have cookbooks to go along with their blogs. Submit your recipes and ask to be included. Design recipes that haven't been done over and over again so that people will be interested in trying them.

on 8/19/2009 Once again, thanks for the info. I am looking for a publisher for a very small cookbook. Know anything about that? I am getting lost in my research for a publisher. I am only in step 1 - writing my recipes.
