Step 1
Find a piece of dry bamboo and cut it into segments with a fine-toothed saw. Make each cut right behind a node (the natural segment dividers on the bamboo) so that each piece of bamboo has an open end and a node at the other end.
-
Step 2
Make a hole in the center of each node big enough to pass a piece of string through. You can drill the hole, or hammer a nail in and pull it out again.
-
Step 3
Get a flat piece of wood or plastic from which to hang the chimes. Drill or pound one hole for each bamboo chime and make one extra hole in the center to hang the chime from.
-
Step 4
Cut equal lengths of string for each chime. Pass one end through the hole in the end of the chime and tie it in a knot. Pass the other end through one of the holes in the holder and make a knot in it. Make sure you attach all the wind chimes near to each other so that they clink when the wind blows.
-
Step 5
Cut a long string and tie it through the hole in the center of the chime holder. Hang it from a branch or the porch.
