How to Make Jewelry Boxes With Paper
Everyone loves having a special place to keep their treasures, but commercially made jewelry boxes can be pricey. However, with this fun, easy and inexpensive project, you can convert a humble paper egg carton into a "stained glass" work of art. The bonus is that you probably already have most, if not all, the supplies you'll need in your home.
Things You'll Need

1
Carefully choose the tissue paper you wish to use for your jewelry box. Take a moment to think about whether you want to complement your existing décor or if you would rather focus on your own personality.
-
2
Cut the tissue paper you have chosen into small triangles. They should be about an inch long, but variations in the sizes and shapes of the triangles will add visual interest to your completed project.

3
Pour some white craft glue into a pie tin. Adding a drop or two at a time, stir in a little water. Keep adding and stirring until the glue mixture takes on the consistency of heavy cream. Use a paintbrush to apply the mixture to the upper half of the outside of the egg carton.
-
4
Stick the tissue triangles to the glued surface one by one. Gently smooth them down with your fingers. Be sure to overlap different-shaped and -colored triangles. If the glue begins to dry before you're done or you simply need a little more to make the triangles stick, just paint on a little more glue. Continue positioning tissue paper triangles until the entire top surface of the egg carton is covered with them.
-
5
Brush a layer of the glue mixture over the tissue-covered egg carton lid. Allow the glue to dry thoroughly before continuing.
-
6
Apply glitter paint to the bottom half of the paper egg carton. Choose a color to complement the stained glass effect on the top of the jewelry box. When that has dried, paint the entire inside of the egg carton with the glitter paint. Let it dry completely.
-
7
Decorate the top of your stained glass jewelry box by applying alphabet stickers and faux gems.
