Instructions

    • 1

Create the flower bud. Choose a baby sock to start with. Lay the baby sock flat on a flat surface. Roll the baby sock, starting with the pointed toe section up to the opening of the sock. Use double sided tape to attach the two ends of the sock together. Take the bottom of the sock and roll it up towards the bud portion of the sock. Rolling it upward will create two exposed edges. Pull the sock over the exposed edges and use double-sided tape to keep it in place.

    • 2

Create the stem. Cut some floral wire to the length you want the stem to be. Stick the wire through the opening in the bottom of the sock and push it in as far as it will go. Do not push it through the other end of the sock (the bud) or you will damage and ruin the bud and sock.

    • 3

Create the base of the flower. Cut a piece of floral tape (about the length of your shoulders). On your flower, you will see a "V" section. Place the floral tape directly below this section. Be sure to wrap the first line twice, creating a smooth and clean looking edge. Slowly continue wrapping the tape (double wrapping is better) until you get to the wire. When you reach the wire, wrap the tape a couple more times and twist it until the tape is tight with the sock and wire.

    • 4

Add leaves to the flower. Take the silk leaf and attach it the floral wire (or stem) about 1 inch from the base of the flower. Attach it by wrapping the leaf's wire around the wire stem. Be sure to wrap the wire close to the stem so the wire doesn't show. Continue the process with a second or third leaf.

    • 5

Complete the stem of the flower. Take the floral tape and wrap the stem. Start with the base of the flower and stretch the tape as you go. When you get to the leaves, form the tape around the leaves. Continue until you get to the base of the stem.

    • 6

Create the arrangement. Place the silk ferns and baby's breath in the vase first. Gradually add the baby sock flowers to the arrangement. If there are different colors, spread them throughout the bouquet evenly so it looks well-balanced and aesthetically pleasing. Add a personalized note or ribbon to the vase.

Tips & Warnings

  • As you are wrapping your flower with floral tape, continue to check to make sure the wire does not slip out from inside the flower.

  • When placing the wire in the sock, do not push with force or you may puncture the "bud" portion of the flower and ruin the sock.
