Things You'll Need:
- Glass sheet of desired size

- Glass cutter
- Gloves, if desired
- Craft glue
- Grout
- Wet towel
- Paintbrush
- Protective eyewear
-
Step 1
Choose what type of design you want to do for your mosaic. This will differ for a large piece of wall art and small coasters. It can be words, a setting, a simple design such as flowers or just random contrasting colors.
-
Step 2
Obtain glass pieces from craft stores, glass in your household that is chipped or broken, or glass from salvaged windows. Make sure that the pieces are small but of various sizes. Break the pieces down with the glass cutter or your hands in gloves. Wear protective eyewear.
-
Step 3
Position the glass pieces on the sheet or pieces of clear glass. Once positioned, glue each of the glass pieces in place. Glue them close together, but leave enough space in between for the grout to get in and dry, thus anchoring the glass pieces permanently.
-
Step 4
Apply the grout into all the cracks with the paintbrush after it is mixed (the simple instructions vary for types of grout, and will be on the container). It is okay if you get grout on the glass, as it can be cleaned off with a wet cloth later. Distribute the grout evenly within the cracks and on the sides of the glass pieces. Let dry.
-
Step 5
Wet the towel and wipe it firmly over the mosaic on the glass sheet to remove debris, extra grout and smears from the edges and sides. If desired, seal the mosaic with a shiny glaze. Let dry.
