How to Make a Monogram in Powerpoint

If you are making a slideshow for a special event, PowerPoint offers many helpful features. Including the monogram of the bride and groom or guest of honor in a slideshow for a bridal shower, wedding reception, sweet sixteen or quinceanera adds a special touch. You can also create a monogram in PowerPoint to save as an image. This image file can then be used to create invitations, decals and other computer-created items for a wedding, party or other event.

Instructions

    • 1

Start PowerPoint and open a blank slide. Go to the Insert tab of the ribbon in PowerPoint 2007 and click on "Text Box," or go to the Insert menu in PowerPoint 2003 or earlier and click on "Text Box."

    • 2

Place the Text box onto the slide. Enter the first initial of the last name of the bride and groom or honoree. Select the text, right click and select "Font." Select a font and change it to a large size. The image example is in 40-point Blackadder ITC font.

    • 3

Insert another text box. Enter the first initial of the bride's first name, or the first initial of the honoree's first name. Select the letter and change the font to the same font as the last name, but a smaller size. The example is made in 20-point Blackadder ITC font.

    • 4

Insert a third text box with the groom's first initial, or the middle initial of the honoree. Remove borders or fill on the text boxes, if they appear, by right clicking and selecting "Format." Choose "No Fill" and "No Line."

    • 5

Arrange the initials so that the last initial is in the center, the bride's initial or the honoree's first initial is on the left, and the groom's initial or the honoree's middle initial is on the left.

    • 6

Press the keyboard shortcut "Ctrl+A" to select all of the text boxes. Right click, point to "Grouping" and select "Group." This will group the text boxes together, making them one object.

    • 7

Save the monogram as an image file by right clicking the grouped text boxes and selecting "Save as Picture." Select "GIF" or "JPEG" in the "Save as Type" dropdown, name the picture and save.
