Step 1
Make sure pictures are taken at the actual engagement. If it's a public event, take pictures yourself. If the future groom is planning a surprise engagement that will be private, make sure he brings a camera and has someone take pictures.

Collect all of the pictures you'll need for the collage. You'll likely want to include pictures from the actual engagement, as well as any professional engagement pictures the couple have taken. Ask your friends to give you any pictures they have of the couple when they were dating or friends. You may also want to contact the couple's parents and ask for pictures from their childhood to include in your collage.

Step 3
Spread all of your pictures across a table to assess what you have. Decide on an overall theme for your collage. For instance, you could make a collage that has the groom's pictures on one half and the bride's pictures on the other half, with pictures of the couple in the middle. You could also make a progressive collage that starts on one end with pictures from the couple as individual children and progresses to their meeting, dating and engagement. You may choose to create a random spread of pictures from all different times and places.

Step 4
Place your pictures in the appropriate order to create your collage. You may have to layer some pictures to create the look you want or cut ones to make them fit. Measure your complete picture design to see what size frame you need. Buy the appropriate-sized frame or poster board if you don't want to use a frame.

Use glue or tape to secure the backs of the pictures to the poster board or cardboard insert that accompanies the frame. This may be a slow process as you secure picture by picture to achieve the look of your collage that you want.
