How to Make Paper Covered Candy Boxes
Recycling is a great way to begin a project like covering a candy box with paper. Save your old heart-shaped candy boxes from Valentine's Day or ask others to save them for you. These boxes make wonderful bases for decorating with paper and become a keepsake worthy of use again and again. This easy, low-budget craft the kids will also enjoy is made using scrapbook paper that you can purchase by the single sheet, which makes it easy for you to mix and match patterns to your own design specifications.

1
Spray a thin film of spray adhesive on the top of the recycled heart-shaped candy box. This is best done outside to prevent over spray on counters, walls and floors. Place the base scrapbook sheet on your work surface with the back side up. Place the heart-shaped candy box, top side down, centered on the scrapbook sheet. Turn the box right side up and rub the surface firmly to achieve adhesion. Turn the box upside down and, using the regular paper scissors, cut the excess scrapbook paper from around the edge of the heart-shaped candy box.

Measure and cut a strip from the second coordinating scrapbook sheets 2 1/2 inches wide using a pair of decorative scissors. Apply stick glue to the back of the 2 1/2-inch strip and place it diagonally across the heart-shaped candy box, allowing the ends to extend over the sides. Turn the box upside down and, using the regular paper scissors, cut the excess scrapbook paper from the end of the strip.

Tips & Warnings
If your box is bigger than the 12-inch square scrapbook sheets, wrapping paper is a wonderful alternative. Double-sided tape can also be used to attach the decorative scrapbook sheets.
