How to Make Goop for Classroom Activities

Kids and adults alike are amazed by the magical concoction commonly referred to as goop. Because of it unusual physical properties, this easy-to-make slime is hard to the touch one minute and dripping through the finger the next. When poked with a finger, it feels solid and is difficult to remove from the bowl, but once it is in the hand it appears to turn to liquid. Instructions

    • 1

Pour 2 cups of cornstarch in a bowl. You can purchase cornstarch in the baking aisle for a dollar or two. It generally comes in a 2-lb. box and will be more than enough to make goop.

    • 2

Add enough water to dissolve the cornstarch. Add additional water until it reaches the consistency of clay. It will be difficult to stir. When squeezed into a ball, it should crumble.

    • 3

Cover the play area or desks with a plastic mat or old newspapers, as goop will drip between the fingers and fall to the table.

    • 4

Store in plastic food storage bag and seal tightly to prevent drying.

    • 5

Clean up with soap and water.
