Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Elastic crafting thread
  • Long needle
  • Package of size 6 beads
  • Package of seed beads

    How to Make Bead Rings

  1. Step 1

Choose a focal bead. First, you will need to choose a bead that will be the center focal bead of your ring. This will be the size 6 bead, but if you bought an assorted set of beads, you will need to find the color and clarity that you like best for this project. Next, choose 14 to 16 seed beads in a complementary color to go around your center bead.

  2. Step 2

Double-thread your needle and pick up enough seed beads to be able to go from the hole to the midpoint of one side of your center bead and then pick up your center bead. Next, pick up the same number of beads again minus one bead. Now go back through the very first bead you picked up with your thread and tie a tight knot at the shortest end.

  3. Step 3

Pick up the number of beads that will fit over your finger and around half of the center bead. Thread your needle back through the center bead. Finally, pick up the same number of beads you picked up in step 2 after you threaded the seed beads and the center bead on your needle. Recount the seed beads you just picked up, going back to the first bead you threaded onto the needle and rethreading the bead next to it.

  4. Step 4

Continue threading in this way throughout the entire ring loop, ending at one side of the ring loop. If there are any gaps to bridge, pick up an additional seed bead and then reloop the entire ring again to close it off and give it strength. Tie off your short end, and then weave any loose threads into the beads to hide them. Your ring is now complete!

Tips & Warnings
  • Be very careful while using the needle and thread. The needle is sharp and can easily pierce the skin.
