    • Cookie Sheet
    • Paper towels
    • Plastic freezer Bags
    • Straw
    1. How to Flash Freeze Blueberries

        Washing Blueberries

        Wash blueberries thoroughly in a colander under running water. Look for berries that are smashed or bad and remove them.

        Place a few paper towels on a clean counter. Spread the washed berries across the towels.

        Drying Blueberry Mix

        Dab the blueberries dry with another paper towel. Repeat this until berries are as dry as possible. If desired, other small berries can be washed and dried with the blueberries. Leave the blueberries or blueberry mix to air dry for a few moments.

        Place dried berries on the cookie sheet in a single layer. It is important that they are completely dry. Otherwise when freezing they will stick together. Place the cookie sheet with the blueberries in the freezer for one hour. Make sure the cookie sheet stays level so that the berries stay in a single layer.

        Take the cookie sheet from the freezer at the end of the hour. Pour frozen blueberries into a plastic freezer bag or bags, depending on how many berries there are.

        Flash Frozen Blueberries

        Insert the straw into the bag of flash frozen blueberries. Gently suck out as much air as possible with the straw. Close the bag and return the bag to the freezer. Use the flash frozen blueberries in any recipe that calls for fresh blueberries.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Make sure blueberries are not touching or they will freeze in clumps. Double bag blueberries for ultimate moisture control while frozen.

    • Overwashing blueberries will remove nutrients.
