Oftentimes, removing applications from the Palm OS leaves residual files behind. These can waste a lot of valuable space. You can remove them using FileZ, a free program. FileZ has an advantage over the built-in file manager because it makes it easy to see and remove .prc files, which are Palm program files, as well as .pdb files, which are databases that programs leave behind.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • FileZ software
  1. Step 1

Visit the NoSleep website to download FileZ to your computer (see Resources).

  2. Step 2

Navigate to the file you downloaded, FileZ6.x.x.zip, and unzip it.

  3. Step 3

In the unzipped folder, double-click the Filez.prc file, and Palm Desktop will automatically open and install the program on your next hot sync. Alternatively, you can get the Filez.prc file to your device by copying it to a memory card or by sending it through infrared or email. If you do this, just navigate to the Filez.prc file on your device or memory card and click it to install.

  4. Step 4

On your Palm device, run the FileZ program. It will present you with a list of files installed on your system.

  5. Step 5

To delete a file, select the file you want to remove, tap the "Menu" button and select "Delete."

Tips & Warnings
  • Be careful what you delete! Removing some files can damage your programs or system.
