Solitaire 13 is an easy-to-learn card game that can be played alone. It's not as complex as classic Solitaire, but it's still lots of fun.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 Deck of playing cards (Jokers removed)

    Setting Up the Game

  1. Step 1

    Shuffle the deck.

  2. Step 2

Arrange 28 cards face up in a seven-row pyramid, dealing each row from left to right. Start with a top row of one card and end with the bottom row of seven cards.

  3. Step 3

Place the remaining cards face down in a pile below the pyramid.

  4. How to Play

  5. Step 1

Start removing pairs of cards from the bottom row whose combined value is 13, with Aces counting as one and Queens counting as 12. Kings may be removed on their own.

  6. Step 2

Incorporate cards from the next row up when the two cards directly below them on either side are cleared away.

  7. Step 3

Draw three cards from the face-down deck when no other solutions remain, and place them face-up below the pyramid. Incorporate these three cards into pairs, either with cards in the pyramid or among themselves.

  8. Step 4

Draw three cards on top of the existing three drawn cards when no solutions remain. Only create pairs with the cards on top of the pile.

  9. Step 5

Win the game by clearing all cards. The game is lost when all cards are drawn and no other pairs can be made.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always try to make more cards available in the pyramid when possible. Do this by clearing cards that are next to each other. Clear kings immediately; there's no strategic value in keeping them around. Draw the first three cards from the deck at the start of the game. That way you'll know what you're dealing with.
