How to Use the Zune Marketplace

The Zune is an MP3 player produced by Microsoft that allows owners to take their music collections with them on the go. It also supports videos, podcasts and audiobooks. The Marketplace allows users to purchase and download music and videos directly to their Zunes via the Zune software.

Instructions

      Download the Zune software. Zune software is provided for free by Microsoft. It can be downloaded directly from the Zune website. To download the software go to zune.net (see Resources). Click the "software" link on the top of the page. It will take you to the software page. Click the "Download Zune 3.0 software" link.

      Set up an account when you download the software, following the prompts. Input information such as your name, e-mail address and social username. After you have set up an account the download of the software will begin.

      Save the file to your computer's desktop. When it finishes downloading click the file on the desktop and follow the prompts to finish the setup.

      Sign into the Zune account you made. Buy points by following the "My account" link on the Zune website. Click the "Buy points" link on the "My account" page. You will be given the option to buy points or a Zune pass using several different payment options, including a credit card or a Zune points card.

      Log into the Zune program and click the marketplace link. This will take you to the store where you can buy music. Several genres are listed along the side. Find the genre that best suits the song or artist you are looking for, or use the search box located on the upper right hand corner to find a specific artist or track.

      Click the "Buy track" link for each song and it will be added to your shopping cart. Once you have added the songs you would like, go to the shopping cart and hit the "Checkout" link.

      Note that the songs will begin to download to your Zune automatically once you have checked out. If your Zune is connected at the time it will automatically sync the songs onto the device. If your Zune is not connected, the software will store the new songs until you connect your Zune for syncing.
