Instructions

    • 1

Choose what type of fabric you want to use. For kitty ears, you can find fabric that is tiger, cheetah or cat fur pattern. Alternately, pick a solid color such as black, white or brown. Purchase pink fabric for the inside of the kitty ears.

    • 2

Cut out four triangles of the patterned ear fabric to the desired size (depending upon your age and size). For a child, the size of cat ears on a headband should be a triangle measuring two inches on each of the three sides. For an adult, the triangle should measure three inches on each side. These measurements are to ensure the proportions of the ears to the body.

    • 3

Measure two triangles from the pink fabric. These should measure 1 inch to 1 1/2 inches smaller than the fabric for the kitty ears. Cut out two triangles from the pink fabric. Sew each of these two pink triangles to one of the patterned triangles, lining up the bottom of the pink fabric with the ear fabric. This piece of pink fabric will be the front of the kitty ears.

    • 4

Match up the pairs of triangles. Place the triangle with the pink part against a triangle without the pink, back to back. Sew them together, leaving the bottom part open as a pocket. Repeat with the other two triangles.

    • 5

Stuff the triangles with the cotton stuffing, and sew the edges of the pocket together.

    • 6

Use the hot glue gun to secure each of the ears to the elastic headband. Dab a thick line all the way along the bottom of the ear; hold it against the elastic band for at least thirty seconds. Attach each ear. Each one should stick out a little diagonally from the side of your head.

    • 7

Add feathers or netting tufts within the ears or at the bottom where the ears and the headband meet for a little more design. Try on the kitty headband to make sure it resembles kitty ears. Make adjustments as necessary.
