Instructions

    • 1

Make a fairy wreath for your child's hair using green florist's wire and silk flowers. Cut florist's wire in a length to encircle her head comfortably. Try it on her first to check the size. Once you're sure, secure the ends by twisting them together so no sharp ends protrude. Weave silk flowers into the wire in pink, purple and yellow. Wrap a silk ivy strand around the florist's wire for an additional woodland touch.

    • 2

Put your child's long hair into a ponytail or braid, securing it with a soft hair loop. Take a strand of silk ivy. Wrap it loosely around a ponytail or weave it into a braid for an untamed fairy look. Add artificial birds to her hair, tying their feet to the ivy strand with thread.

    • 3

Braid your child's long hair with a silk ribbon entwined among the sections of her hair. Secure the braid at the end with a soft hair loop. Tie a bow at the end of the ribbon. When the braid is finished, tuck silk flowers in along the ribbon.

Fasten tiny silk flowers to the headband either by sewing the stems on or by wrapping long stems around the headband. Using hair spray as a fixative, sprinkle fairy glitter along the headband and flowers. Use colored hair sprays for a magical fairy look.

Pick pieces of ivy from your yard to put in your child's hair for a spontaneous fairy hair design. Fasten the leaves in her hair with bobby pins.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make use of the length and texture of your child's hair. Whether long or short, any hair can be made to look like fairy hair. The curlier hair is, the more securely it will hold accessories you attach to it. The longer it is, the more flowers you can braid into it.
