How to Make a Cold Sore Pop Fast

Cold sores are often painful and ugly, and people want to get rid of them as fast as possible. The herpes virus causes cold sores. The virus is already in a person's body; when the person becomes sick with the flu or is under too much stress, cold sores may appear. Sometimes they appear for no reason. There are several ways to make a cold sore pop fast and drain, so that it will scab over and heal.

Take four acidophilus capsules three times a day. When you take them, drink a glass of milk. The milk helps the cold sore heal faster. You can do this if you feel a cold sore coming on, and it might stop a lesion from forming.

    • 2

Use extract of lemon balm, which you can find online or at a store such as GNC (see Resources). The lemon balm will speed up the cold sore's healing and reduce some of the symptoms, such as the pain.

    • 3

Make an ordinary cup of tea, using an Earl Grey teabag and boiling water. Once it cools, apply the tea to the cold sore. It should scab over and disappear in four to five days.

    • 4

Put the juice from an aloe vera plant on your cold sore. You can also use aloe gel, which is sold in bottles to help with sunburn. This is another one of those treatments that you can use when you first feel the cold sore coming on.

Tips & Warnings

  • When your cold sore pops, drain all the clear liquid, if possible. The cold sore needs to dry out. If the liquid coming out of the sore is not clear, you may want to see a doctor, because you probably have something other than a cold sore.
