Things You'll Need:
- Comfortable chair or cushion

Step 1
Prepare your Space. Choose a room free of distractions or noise. Remove any annoying smells or sights. In fact, take out anything that energetically interferes with the meditative atmosphere you are creating. Light a candle and dim the lights.

Step 2
Be Comfortable. Wear loose fitting clothing. Make sure the temperature is pleasant. Have a blanket nearby in case your body temperature changes. Choose a chair or cushion that you will be comfortable sitting in for long periods.

Breathe. Take breaths through all discomfort. Breathe deeply to refocus the mind. Breathe out forcefully to decrease anxiety. Keep the mind focused on the breathe until you reach a place of internal peace. The breathe, then, will take on its own natural rhythm without effort.

Step 4
Tame the Mind. There will be periods of bliss and periods of mind chatter. At different points, you may experience every problem you have ever had, all fears of the future or other strange sensations. Know that this is only movement through illusion. Do not fight with the mind, but simply thank it for sharing and return your focus to the breathe.

Step 5
Walk through the Door. The more you relax, the more doors that open. Veils begin to drop and you are able to see life with new eyes. Where there were problems, there are solutions. Where there were fears, there is power. And what seemed strange, in now seen clearly. Life slows and peace, joy and grace moves through your being. There is the potential in these hours of meditation, to experience personal awareness that leads to personal fulfillment.
