Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer with broadband internet
  1. Step 1

Point your web browser to the Bankrate.com auto loan calculator/amortization schedule calculator @ http://www.bankrate.com/calculators/auto/auto-loan-calculator.aspx. The Bankrate.com auto calculator displays.

  2. Step 2

Note that the Bankrate.com auto loan calculator is divided into two sections. The first section is the basic auto loan calculator and factors in auto loan amount, auto loan term, interest rate, and auto loan start date. The second section allows you to add extra payments to the auto loan payment.

  3. Step 3

In the first section, enter the loan amount of the new car. The loan amount is the price of the car including all discounts, including down payment and trade-in (e.g., negotiated price $19,000 minus $3,000 down payment minus $2,000 trade-in equals $14,000 loan amount).

  4. Step 4

Enter the auto loan term in years or months.

  5. Step 5

    Enter the negotiated interest rate.

  6. Step 6

Enter the start date of the loan.

  7. Step 7

Click the Calculate button. Your monthly payment displays in the Monthly auto loan payments field.
