Cinnamon, the spice that grows in Brazil and Egypt is one of the oldest of known spices and is thought to have more than one health benefit.

  • cinnamon (ground, sticks)

    Cinnamon is a common ingredient in chai tea and is believed to aide in the digestion of fruit and dairy products. If you don't enjoy this type of tea, try making a cup of your favorite black tea, add a cinnamon stick and let seep for 5 minutes. The aromatic scent of the tea is beneficial as well; it's a comforting scent.

  2. Step 2

    Cinnamon is used to improve one's vitality and circulation in areas of the world and is believed to be helpful for people who have cold feet, yet feel warm in the upper body.

  3. Step 3

    Recent studies have found that cinnamon may have a positive effect on the blood sugar levels of people with type 2 diabetes. Patients who took cinnamon in a pill form daily, reduced their blood glucose by 18.
    Of course, you need to get consent from your physician before medicating yourself, even if that medication is a natural ingredient.

  • Cinnamon added to oatmeal makes a tasty breakfast. And cinnamon is great sprinkled on apples, pears and peaches too!
