Make a Great Leg of Lamb
Make a Great Leg of Lamb

There is nothing better than a nice leg of lamb for Sunday dinner. Cooking lamb is one of the easiest things to do. The following reciepe serves around 8.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 4 to 5 lb leg of lamb
  • Clove of garlic
  • Olive oil
  • 2 Tbsp of chopped fresh rosemary
  1. Step 1

Heat the oven to 375F. Place the thawed leg of lamb in a large roasting pan.

  2. Step 2

Place finely chopped garlic and rosemary in a bowl. Add 1tsp of salt and ½ tsp of pepper. Rub the contents of the bowl over the leg of lamb. Drizzle the leg of lamb with olive oil.

  3. Step 3

Roast leg of lamb 1 to 1 ½ hours. Check temperature of leg of lamb using a meat thermometer. The leg of lamb will be rare at around 135F. Medium should be around 145F. Remove lamb from oven at desire temperature.

  4. Step 4

Let the leg of lamb rest for 15 minutes. Resting allows the juices to be drawn back into the meat. This will give you a very juicy piece of meat. Carve the leg of lamb.

  5. Step 5

You could serve with a mint sauce for a traditional take. You could also serve with Greek yogurt mixed with mint, salt, pepper and garlic. My personal favorite is to eat it straight with mashed potatoes and gravy. Use the drippings from the leg of lamb to make homemade gravy.
