Get a Top Ten Search Engine Rank Using Long Tail Keywords

If you have done any type of internet marketing, you should be very familiar with keywords and their importance in search engine ranking. General keywords are very competitive and you may find your article, if you find your article placement at all, 20 to 30 pages away from the top 10 ranked articles on your subject. It is proven that most people who do a google search will likely only look at the first 3 or 4 results, or maybe the first page of results. So what if your article is ranked 83 out of all of the search results? Chances are, no one is ever going to see yours by simply performing a search on your topic. Long tail keywords are the more targeted phrases that people type into the search engines. Using long tail keywords will typically get you a top ten search engine ranking and put your article among one of the most clicked on and the most read articles. Read more to learn how to use long tail keywords to get a top 10 search engine rank.

Instructions

Long tail keywords are simply the longer, more specific phrases that people type into search engines. For example, instead of using the keyword "horse" for your article, why not be more specific. The keyword horse was searched 20,400,000 times in February alone. You are probably thinking, "Great! I have found a popular keyword that people are searching for," but think about the competition your keyword would be up against. If you used the long tail keyword "how to raise a horse," your search result goes down to 9,780,000 searches. Still a great search result, right? But still great competition too. Now, let's look at "how to raise a baby horse." This long tail keyword phrase had 288,000 people searching for this exact phrase. This is still a tremendous amount of people, but your competition is a little more manageable.

Long tail keywords potentially will deliver visitors with more specific needs. A prospect that types "how to raise a baby horse" into a search engine will be looking specifically for information on raising a horse from birth, as opposed to someone looking to raise a horse that is already 2 years old or older.

To use long tail keywords effectively, start with a main keyword and then use that as a starting point for a long tail keyword search. For example, start your research with one main keyword. Find the long tail keyword possibilities that arise when you start simple. Look for 2 or 3 long tail keywords that have small amounts of traffic, yet the ability to still drive traffic.

Incorporate a few of these long tail keywords that people are searching for into your article content. Sprinkle them in here and there. Make sure you think of synonyms too. Not everyone refers to something that doesn't cost much as "inexpensive." Many refer to this as "cheap." Keep that in mind when writing your article.

It is recommended that you use your main keyword at a 3-5% density as you write your article. In other words, for every 100 words you write, your keyword should appear 3 to 5 times. And again, sprinkle your long tail keywords throughout the entire article. The main goal is to write a quality article that is based on a highly profitable keyword, while at the same time, mixing in several synonyms and multi-word long tail keyword phrases.
