IMAGINE THIS MURAL IN YOUR NURSERY
IMAGINE THIS MURAL IN YOUR NURSERY

Don't you just love the word itself....tatouage, it sounds like some exotic French pastry. In fact, tatouage is the art of dry transfer, a method of applying a mural or picture to a flat surface such as a wall. I call this an art, but it is so easy, just about anyone can do it.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1
    A VINTAGE LOOKING MURAL
    A VINTAGE LOOKING MURAL

One of my favorite websites is called Beautiful Murals, they specialize in tatouage murals and this site is just amazing. They carry transfers in so many different designs that there is something for everyone, regardless of your decorating style. The wonderful thing about dry transfers is that no glue is used, so no fumes, nor do you need paint or tape or brushes or anything else normally associated with painting a mural on your wall. So if you are concerned about the materials or products going into your home, a tatouage mural is perfect.

  2. Step 2
HAVE A KITCHEN W/NO WINDOW? USE A MURAL
HAVE A KITCHEN W/NO WINDOW? USE A MURAL

Murals are making a comeback in today's homes, you can add a window where there is none, or create a scene to compliment your room's decor. Any room that has a niche built into it is the perfect place to use a tatouage mural, add a light and you have a beautiful focal point.

  3. Step 3
A PAIR OF TOPIARY'S FOR THE DINING ROOM.
A PAIR OF TOPIARY'S FOR THE DINING ROOM.

Have you ever wanted a tree in your dining room? You can have a pair if you want when you use dry transfers. These transfers only need to be cut out and taped to the wall where you want them. You then use a wood stylis to rub over the picture and gently begin to peel the backing off. That's it!

Tips & Warnings
  • For all those people out there who don't think they have any artistic ability, try a dry transfer. They look so pretty and natural and are as easy to do as anything I've ever tried.
