      Percentage means "per 100." So, 65% means 65 per 100. This can also be expressed in a fraction as 65/100, or as a decimal of .65. In other words, let's say there is a room with 100 people in it and 65 of those people are men. That means that 65% of the people are men. Since percentage is based on "per 100," that means that 35% of the people must then be women. What if it is stated that .65 of the people are men, or .35 are women? These numbers would need to be converted in order to know the percentage of both men and women.

      Converting a decimal to a percent can be done in one of two ways.

      Move the decimal two places to the right and add the %

      The easiest way to convert a decimal to a percent is to simply move the decimal point to the right two places and add the percent sign (%).

      Example:
      .65-->65-->65%

      The second way to convert a decimal to a percent is to simply multiply the decimal number by 100 and add the percent sign (%).

      Example:
      .45 X 100 = 45%
