Some home jobs that you hear about are more legitimate than others. If you are seeking real home jobs, meaning telecommuting jobs which actually exist, which other people are doing, and which you may want to consider doing yourself, this article contains tips about how to find legitimate work at home jobs.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

When seeking real home jobs, one of your first steps is to read through the threads on some of the most well respected work at home message board forums. There is a WAHM message board, for instance. (The term WAHM means work at home mom.) Another very helpful message board for telecommuters is called WorkPlaceLikeHome. When you visit such message boards for the first time, it is always a good idea to consult their "sticky" threads first. These are the threads which are always left near the top of the message boards because the content in these threads is so very important. It is on these sticky threads that you will be able to find a lot of information about which work at home companies are legitimate and which are not. People who work at home post all sorts of information on these message boards. For instance, they talk about hiring requirements, what the interview process is like with various companies, what sorts of experience specific companies are seeking, if certain companies are actively hiring, etc.

  2. Step 2

In addition to reading through threads that interest you about real home jobs, you may also want to start a thread posing questions about what it is like to work for specific work at home companies. Many of the people who post on work at home message boards tend to be extremely helpful and welcoming to newcomers. If you do not like the idea of starting your own thread, you can always PM (send a private message) to a fellow board member who strikes you as especially helpful.

  3. Step 3

Another way to find real work at home jobs that might suit you is to research specific professional fields and/or companies online. Google as much information as you can about a specific company that is of interest to you. Be sure to read everything you can get your hands on about that company, both the good and the bad, so that you can make a well informed decision about whether or not you want to apply to work there.
