Going to San Francisco and want to make the most of your trip? Here´s what to see and how to get there...

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Money
  • Driver´s License
  1. Step 1

After Landing at SFO get a hotel near Fisherman´s Wharf. Lombard street is a good place to start looking. Hotels in this area usually go for under 90 bucks in off peak season. Getting a hotel in San Francisco close to the tourist attractions will save you a ton of time and money in cab fares, commuting time, etc.

  2. Step 2

Go to Fisherman´s Wharf go to Alcatraz tours and see if any tickets are available. Alcatraz is a must see...consequently, they may be sold out for days in advance. Doing this on your first day will allow you to reserve a ticket later in the week.

  3. Step 3

As long as you´re by Pier 39 go see the Sea Lions. They´re all the way at the end of the Pier to the left. If you´re hungry there are plenty of cafes where you can eat and watch the sea lions.

  4. Step 4

Grab a Go-Car, Trolley Tour, or Bike Tour. These tours even though they are a bit spendy will help orient you with the city. They may take you to or through Coit Tower, the Three Sisters (a.k.a. the houses from Full House) and other area attractions.

  5. Step 5

Grab Breakfast in Marin. This is the more ¨Ritzy¨ part of San Francisco on the other side of the golden gate bridge. Enjoy a swedish cafe or walk tree lined cobblestone roads. Look for the fire department...even that is ritzy.

  6. Step 6

Go to the Marin Highlands and enjoy the most breathtaking view of the Golden Gate Bridge. Notice the sweeping currents coming into or out of the bay.

  7. Step 7

Grab some of San Francisco´s world class sushi. Have at least one California Roll.

Tips & Warnings
  • Take Public transit whenever you can a taxi can run upwards of 30 dollars for the same 3 dollar public transit trip.
  • If you ever get lost just head to higher ground to orient yourself.
  • There are three main roads to know Market and Lombard are two of them.
  • Avoid the Tenderloin as it is more dangerous.
