Step 1
First, you have to resolve yourself to making a serious effort to accomplish this.

Buy a nice broom, tie a ribbon around it and give it to your child. Say that this is a gift to help with your future career.

Whenever they want something, or you notice them enjoying any manufactured item, remind them that this was both created and purchased with dirty establishment money.

If they insist that money is just way too overrated to be taken seriosuly, make beans and rice or macaroni for dinner over and over, every night. If they complain, or ask why, tell them that you don't want to waste money on shallow, materialistic things like food.

If they have any causes or issues they are interested in or are passionate about, relentlessly put information under their noses about people with degrees have made significant changes and contributions in the world.

Step 6
Reassure them that college will not eliminate their creativity or individuality one bit, and that it will only serve to strengthem them, and broaden and sharpen their ideas, and provide opportunities for them to run life, instead of life running them.

Step 7
Write down the steps they need to take to get in to college. Keep the list simple and straight forward. Post it in various areas of the house, including the fridge, bathroom.....

Last but not least, let them know that college will provide them with the most fun, partying years of their life.
