The First Kiss. For most of us, it was a tense, awkward, and embarrassingly uncomfortable rite of passage. Whether it was too short, too long, too forceful, or too wet, most first kisses do not reflect the exciting romance of a first love. Well, prepare to mis-kiss no more! Here are 7 tips to make sure that your next "first kiss" makes your lips tingle for weeks.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Guys: a first kiss should be gentle. Don't break your date's neck by letting all of your passionate feelings for her fly at her face. You'll show more emotion and consideration by starting off with a soft and tender kiss, and then reading your date's signals about letting things get more intense.

  2. Step 2

Don't ask permission! While this may reflect your desire to show her respect, it only makes the atmosphere tense and awkward. Unless she has specifically said she wants to be asked, don't do it. All this does is alert your date that in the near future, you'll be kissing her, and it completely removes all of the exciting mystery that is the fuel of romance. However, if you do slip up and ask permission, go for it right away. Don't ask, and then change the subject because you are nervous. (Believe it or not, this actually happens.)

  3. Step 3

Girls: Let the guy take the lead, but as soon as your lips make contact, be an active participant. He made the hardest move by initiating contact, now its your job to let him know how you feel about it.

  4. Step 4

Guys: Use your hands! I don't mean inappropriately, but cup her face or gently embrace her. This makes your girl feel safe, and assures her that you really DO like her. (Most women, even after a great date and during the first kiss, are frantically thinking "does he like me?") By leaving no question in her mind, you make it easier for her to reciprocate.
