Resize Images For the Web
Resize Images For the Web

There are many reasons to upload an image to the web. For example you may be designing your own website, posting to a forum, or creating an avatar. Sometimes you will find that your image is too large or that you need a place to host your image. Fortunately, you can take care of both of these problems at the same time by using an image hosting site. There are many sites out there, but for this example I will be using ImageShack.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • image file
  • image hosting site
  1. Step 1

The first thing to do when you want to upload an image to the web is to locate the image on your computer. In this case, I have a tiff file of an Ingres painting on my desktop.

  2. Step 2

Next, open up your web browser and go to the image hosting site. I have chosen to use ImageShack.

  3. Step 3

Next, go to 'Browse' and locate the image you'd like to upload.

  4. Step 4

You'll notice that there is a menu with labeled resizing options. This makes it easy to choose the correct size by specifying categories such as avatar, thumbnail, websites & email and so on. I'll choose websites & email for this example. After you choose the image and the desired resize option, you're ready to upload.

  5. Step 5

Now all you have to do is copy the URL or HTML tag for your image in order to post it to a forum or website.
