Plant A Tree For Arbor Day
Plant A Tree For Arbor Day

Arbor Day shows America's love of trees is still strong and growing. Every year the United States celebrates Arbor Day on the last Friday in April. This unique holiday celebrates the future by planting trees for the next generations to come. Here are Arbor Day tree planting ideas you and your family can do to celebrate Arbor Day and help in creating the future.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Join The Tree Planting Movement For Arbor Day

When you join the Arbor Day Foundation you will receive 10 free seedlings you can plant, as a family, on Arbor Day. Locate several areas, close to your home, you can plant the seedlings. Your will just need a spade and some water to plant your ‘extended family of trees’. www.arborday.com

  2. Step 2

    Planting Trees Helps The Environment

According to the National Arbor Day Foundation ‘over the course of 50 years one tree can generate $31,250 of oxygen, provide $62,000 worth of air pollution control, recycle $37,500 worth of water, and control $31,500 worth of soil erosion’. Planting a tree for Arbor Day will create energy and enrich your yard, park, school yard, or wherever you plant it. You can have a tree planted in one of our National Forests to replace those lost to forest fires. You can make a donation to have a tree planted in memory of a loved one or to mark a special occasion which will also contribute to a healthier environment and create the future for generations. www.arborday.com

  3. Step 3

    Tree Planting Organizations

Tree Givers.com will arrange for a tree to be planted in your choice of State or county. Since the tree will be planted in your area you can watch how it grows and you will know that if brings life, beauty, and energy to your countryside.

Give-A-Tree.com will plant a young tree, in your state, in memory of a loved one, a pet, or for any type of special occasion. This provides a unique way to honor someone and then be able to watch the memory of a loved one grow as the tree grows.

  4. Step 4

    Smokey Bear Fire Prevention

Smokey Bear has been telling people that ‘only you can prevent forest fires’. Statistics show that over 95% of forest fires are caused by carelessness and millions of trees have been lost to forest fires. When having your backyard bonfire remember that you are responsible to ensure that the fire is totally extinguished before leaving it unattended.
