Things You'll Need:
- Wide tooth comb or pick
- Curly spray gel or mousse
- Blow dryer
- Diffuser
- Hair spray
-
Step 1
The style begins with wet hair. Be sure to use conditioner on the hair when washing to smooth any dry strands. Naturally curly hair is typically dryer than straight hair, so be sure to condition every time it is washed.
-
Step 2
Use a wide tooth comb or pick to brush out any tangles in the wet hair. The wider the teeth are the better. Using a comb or a brush with many teeth will separate the individual strands. For frizz-free locks, a simple comb will help to group the hair into locks of curls.
-
Step 3
Apply curly gel or mousse to the hair. This can be done with the hands, but avoid touching your hair too much or excessively running your fingers through your hair. Oils on your hands are one of the prime sources for frizz, so hands off! Just scrunch your hair to apply the product and encourage curls at the same time.
-
Step 4
For sleek curls, let your hair air dry. This will give your curls less volume but they will be very defined.
-
Step 5
For voluminous, bouncy curls, use a blow dryer with a diffuser attachment to dry your hair. Dry hair flipped upside down for maximum volume. Spritz the finished product with hair spray and lightly smooth hair with fingers or edge of comb to tame fly-aways.
