Good Friday is the Friday before Easter Sunday when Christians observe the day that Jesus was crucified on the cross. Here are some ideas on how to observe Good Friday with kids through crafts and activities found online.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Make hot cross buns. You don’t have to eat them for breakfast; they are very yummy for snack times or anytime throughout the day. Growing up in the UK, we always had hot cross buns on Good Friday, it was a tradition for us and I love thinking back to the hot, straight from the oven, sweet and spicy taste of this bread. The cross on top of the bun signifies the cross that Jesus died on, a very simple way to get the message across to your kids. You and your kids can make the hot cross buns together in the kitchen; DLTK-Holidays.com has a great recipe you can try out.

  2. Step 2

Read age appropriate books about the crucifixion of Christ. There are many great books out there for kids that tell the story and get the message across but are not too graphic. Reading books to your kids is a good way to generate discussion about the events of Good Friday.

  3. Step 3

Go to Oriental Trading Company.com and take a look at their Good Friday crafts, they have a few for kids of all ages and are usually very simple to do and a good buy for large crowds. I really like the “Lamb Of God” Cross Craft Kit” and the “Jelly Bean Prayer Cross Craft Kit” for younger kids. They have Good Friday crafts for older kids too; find them under “Holidays”, then “Easter”, then “Easter Crafts”.

  4. Step 4

Coloring Book Fun.com has a wide selection of printable coloring pages. From the arrest of Jesus to his death on the cross. The graphics are simple and suitable for younger kids. Print out whatever you need and let the kids go to town coloring. Again, another good way to generate discussion about Good Friday.

  5. Step 5

If your kids like to play on the computer, then they will enjoy the online puzzles at A Kids Heart.com. You will find Good Friday puzzles under “Holiday”, then “Easter,” then “Online Games”. The graphics are beautiful and there are several puzzles for different age groups and a choice of jigsaw puzzle or sliding jigsaw puzzle. You solve the puzzle by moving the pieces around the screen with your mouse. Very cool.
